Established by the Chalmers Foundation, this annual award recognizes those who embody the spirit of giving, inspire others, and contribute to meaningful change in the Greater Fredericton area.

About Paul Wentzell

Paul Wentzell was a passionate community leader, instrumental in organizing and supporting many charitable events, including the UCT Poker Tournament, Canada Day festivities, and 10 Chalmers Foundation Radiothons—efforts that raised nearly $1 million for local healthcare. His dedication to helping others left a profound legacy, which we honor through this award.

Past Honouree: Dave Morell (2024)

The inaugural Paul Wentzell Community Builder Award was presented to Dave Morell, a longtime supporter of the Chalmers Foundation and a dedicated advocate for healthcare initiatives. Despite his own battle with Stage 4 lung cancer, Dave used his platform to raise awareness and funds for cancer care, authoring Hit the Switch: One Family’s Journey With Cancer, which helped fund 16 new oncology treatment chairs for the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital.

Award Presentation

The award is presented annually at the Chalmers Foundation Radiothon, a major fundraising event supporting healthcare initiatives across the region. This year’s Radiothon will raise funds for the Foundation’s Cancer Support Program. Learn more about our event.
