CANCER SUPPORT PROGRAM
In 2024, the Chalmers Foundation announced a $1.3 million initiative to enhance and expand the Cancer Support Program, aiming to provide free and accessible community-based services to individuals with lived-cancer experience(s) and their caregivers within Area 3 of the Horizon Health Network.
STAY STRONG PROGRAM
The Stay Strong program is a free 12-week in-person program consisting of physical exercise and education sessions designed for adults diagnosed with cancer. The program is led by a Registered Nurse (RN) and Physiotherapist (PT).
The main objective of the Stay Strong exercise program is to minimize the negative side effects that can be experienced from cancer treatments. The program can also improve quality of life and allow individuals to maintain their independence.
Stay Strong is open to adults who have undergone chemotherapy, radiation therapy, or another form of cancer treatment within the last five (5) years. Participants must have medical clearance to participate in the physical activity part of the program.
