Jérémie’s Story

Jérémie’s Story

About

More Than A Bike

When Jérémie was just three years old, he was diagnosed with medulloblastoma, an aggressive brain cancer. After a relapse and years of treatment, he finished treatment in 2018. Today, he continues to live with the lasting effects of cancer, including challenges with balance, coordination, muscle strength, and endurance.

For many children, riding a bike is a part of growing up. For Jérémie, it wasn’t possible without specialized support.

Through the Stan Cassidy Centre for Rehabilitation’s Bikes & Trikes program, children receive customized adaptive bikes that help them stay active, build strength, and experience the simple joys of childhood.

Last summer, thanks to donor support, Jérémie received an adapted tricycle. One year later, it has become part of his everyday life. During the school year, he rides several times a week at school, and in the summer, he enjoys cycling along the trail behind his home in Bertrand, NB, always with his favourite music playing.

The impact goes beyond the ride. Therapists at the Stan Cassidy Centre for Rehabilitation have noticed increased strength in Jérémie’s legs and hips, helping him walk longer distances, climb more easily, and stay active.

For his mom, Jessica, the greatest gift isn’t measured by physical progress alone.

“When Jérémie is riding his bike and singing while listening to music, our hearts are full of joy,” she says. “Happiness is in the small things.”

That’s the lasting impact of donor support. An adapted tricycle is more than a bike. It is confidence, independence, and the opportunity for children like Jérémie to keep doing what they love. Donate today to support the Stan Cassidy Centre for Rehabilitation and help create more stories like his.
