A Hybrid Operating Room (OR) is a state-of-the-art surgical suite that combines:
A traditional surgical environment (sterile, fully equipped for open surgery)
Advanced imaging technology (real-time CT, fluoroscopy, angiography, and more.)
In practice: surgeons can use live imaging during operations, allowing them to detect, respond, and intervene immediately without moving the patient between rooms.
Improve access to advanced image-guided surgery for complex vascular, trauma, orthopedic, and ontological cases closer to home.
Increase minimally invasive capacity, supporting shorter stays, lower complication rates, and better long-term recovery.
Reduce surgical wait times, enabling urgent and high-risk procedures to proceed sooner.
Strengthen healthcare equity for rural communities across western and central New Brunswick.

This will be the first operational Hybrid OR in New Brunswick. Serving Fredericton, the Upper River Valley area and surrounding communities, while also providing province-wide and Prince Edward Island coverage during on-call surgical services.
